Welcome To The Chiefs Chronicles Community!
What’s up, everyone? How has your summer been so far? Is it crazy hot where you live? Are you getting anxious for Chiefs football (actual games that mean something) to be back?
Actually, there’s no need for you to answer (unless you want to leave a comment by hitting the button above, which would be fantastic!)- I probably can’t hear you, and I only say “probably” because one of my neighbors may be a subscriber. That’s doubtful, though, as I live deep behind enemy lines (Raiders and 49ers fans/flags/jerseys/hats/bumper stickers are pervasive).
Not that I consider those teams or their fans my enemies. For that to be the case, they’d have to beat the Chiefs more often…
Note: To my friends and family who root for those teams, I’m sorry and I’m just kidding around (like Krusty the Clown in the clip below). You know me. I’m always joking. About pretty much everything. Thank you so much for reading this and supporting my writing. The fact that you continue to do it in spite of your personal feelings about the two-time reigning Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs, (who just so happen to be the odds-on favorite to be the first team ever in the Super Bowl era to three-peat) is a tribute to how amazing and tolerant you are. Bravo!😘
For anyone who became a subscriber since the draft, this is probably your first time reading Chiefs Chronicles. Unless, that is, you’re a platinum card-carrying member of Chiefs Kingdom who searched “Chiefs” on Substack, found my little column, and then immediately went back to previous columns to relive moments from last season (starting with the Frankfurt game) and also to find out what Chiefs Chronicles is all about.
So, what’s it all about (I would like to thank my dad for wedging that song deep into my brain), you ask? Well, you can expect stories from my life as a Chiefs fan along with my thoughts on each game (and some of the news involving the Chiefs), all flavored with a generous helping of the sweet, smoky BBQ sauce that is my sense of humor (I haven’t eaten dinner yet and I was thinking about KC BBQ). The tagline on the Chiefs Chronicles Substack page really says it all: “The random ramblings of a long-time Chiefs fan on the team, game memories, life, and whatever else pops into my head.” Actually, I just realized that humor isn’t mentioned once in that tagline. That’s a problem. I’ll add “add humor to Chiefs Chronicles tagline” to my to do pile.
Our Regularly Scheduled Programming…
During the season, Chiefs Chronicles should come out every week. I write after the games, and how soon after the games depends on my schedule and, in all honesty, my mood. People who have been with Chiefs Chronicles since last year (we need to come up with a catchy name for you folks who were early subscribers!) might say that there have been some time-gaps between articles, and then go on to point out that it’s been quite a while since the last Chiefs Chronicles came out. And, for the sake of transparency, I will admit that it has been around 2.5 months (I last published right before the draft) of no output on my end.
I am working on ramping up the amount of columns I write, so I’ll try to keep everyone updated through Notes if there are going to be any disruptions to the schedule.
Chiefs Chronicles is Chiefs content absolutely overflowing with reread value- not to mention the fact that every column has loads of pictures, videos, GIFs, and links (there are even links in picture captions sometimes) to videos and articles (BTW, I can tell whether the links have been clicked or not, so don’t try to tell me that you’ve looked at them all, Phil, because I know you haven’t) that I have personally curated and which will provide you with knowledge and entertainment for many years to come. That last part may be a bit of an exaggeration (just a little bit) but you get what I’m saying.
Here are some of the interesting things you can go back and read about in previous editions of Chiefs Chronicles (I randomly picked some columns & topics- there are a lot more of both to read):
The First Time I Saw Patrick Mahomes In Person (with video) & Hilarious and/or Clever Names I Gave My Fantasy Football Team (I change the name every week)…
KC Disasterpiece AKA The Days Of Feeling Bad As Chiefs Fans Were Supposed To Be Over & 5 Commercials I Hate…
There’s No Such Thing As Luck Parts 1 & 2…
Buffalo Hype Made Me Forget Who KC’s QB Is & Weight Loss During The Playoffs Is Hard…
That’s some good stuff, right there! You’ve got to admit that you’re very tempted to click one of those links… Do it!
Why You Should Subscribe Now… Hey, Look Up Here!
The best time to subscribe to Chiefs Chronicles is right… now. Anyone who signs up by August 9th will become a lifetime free subscriber to Chiefs Chronicles- unless, that is, you feel compelled to express your gratitude for all my hard work by choosing a paid subscription. That would be greatly appreciated but is not expected.
So, tell all of your Chiefs Kingdom friends (or friends who are football fans and enjoy humorous sports writing) to sign up this instant! I’m not trying to boss you around, I just don’t want them to miss out. You can text, email, call them, send a physical letter by Pony Express (look it up kids or just watch this show), talk to them in person (it’s funny that I thought of that one last- a little bit of commentary on modern society) or whichever other way you can think of to let them know that their time to take advantage of this one-time-only offer is very limited. Or just send this column directly to them by pressing the ‘Share’ button below…
Right before the season starts (August 9th, remember?) a Chiefs Chronicles subscription will be $5/month or $30/year to unlock all posts, archives, etc. I’m going to be testing out other features that Substack offers, as well, so there should be even more coming in the near future. Audio versions of Chiefs Chronicles, videos, puppet shows (I may have dreamed that feature), and possibly more.
If you forget about the deadline and still want to subscribe, the best thing to do is sign up with a friend. There is a 20% discount applied for two or more subscriptions purchased at the same time.
Well, that’s it for this post. Training camp has started and I have some ideas for upcoming posts that have been percolating all offseason. Thanks for reading and, as always:
GO CHIEFS!!!
(Here’s the very important part of the column with all the buttons. Go nuts!)
