The Game 4: Adrenaline Rush, RE: The Refs or The Difference Between the Chiefs and Other Teams, Mahomes & the Offense = Poetry in Motion, Returner-1 Has Finally Arrived, And the Name Is...!!!
The KC Chiefs, a small market franchise, have taken the NFL to new heights. For this team to be in a position to put a crown on their dynasty by going for 3 titles in a row is miraculous, but also an example of a well run organization on all levels that develops talent and takes care of their personnel. Fans of the NFL have hope that someday their franchise can climb to the top of the league and have the ultimate success story like K.C., and that’s good for the league, and great for football fans.
Couldn’t agree with you more, Cameron. Thanks for all of the well thought out comments. I especially appreciate that they’re usually exactly in line with how I see things.
(Secret Pig Latin-Coded Note For Your Eyes Only: The eckchay is in the ailmay. 😉)
Brothers on opposite sides of the field who both love Andy Reid? Sounds about right to me. Plus, I’m dating Taylor Swift in this scenario! Maybe she’ll loan me some money…😂😫
Necessary Roughness is a drastically underrated football movie. I loved when the offense is in their final huddle, getting ready to run Coach Riggs’ trick play and Manumana “the Slender” says to QB Paul Blake (played by Scott Bakula): “Mr. Blake. He’ll never touch you.” When the villainous Texas linebacker Flat-Top tries to hit Blake before he can get the pass off (Blake is, of course, standing completely still and thinking about the scarecrow he used to throw footballs at on the family farm), Manu hits him so hard that he knocks Flat-Top’s face mask off, bloodying the bad guy’s mouth in the process.
We literally cheered the first time we saw it. My friend Joey and I must have rewound and rewatched that scene at least 10 times. Yes, we were watching it on VHS.
Two things occur to me, as I think about this movie:
1) Bakula and Blake are pretty closely related last names, letters-wise. Interesting.
2) I’m pretty sure that seconds after the movie ended, QB Paul Blake, having beaten Texas (and thereby helping save the football program) kissed his now-girlfriend, Suzanne. At that exact moment, after putting so many things right in his and his teammates’ lives that once went wrong, Dr. Sam Beckett leaped out of Blake’s life and into one where he was a Hispanic man in the 1960s who also happened to be a deep sea diver. When he saw he was on the ocean floor, his eyes got really wide and he said, “Oh, boy!” inside his old-timey diving suit helmet. Hilarious! That’s right- Necessary Roughness is just an extended episode of Quantum Leap! Boom!

Gary, I think we might be the Travis & Jason Kelce of Substack this week 🤣. And great pull from Necessary Roughness!

I think you need to turn that into the script for Necessary Roughness 2
